19th Sunday of the Year
Dear Friends in Christ,
I wish that school started on the Tuesday after Labor Day and lasted through the middle of June, but t’aint so. It’s time, then, to think of the new school year and all that comes with it in the life of the parish.
On Sunday 14 August we’ll have Evensong at 5 pm sponsored by the St Anselm’s Community. Also on that Sunday our high school youth group meetings will resume at 6 pm.
On Monday 15 August we’ll have three Masses for the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary: 7 am, 12 noon, and 7 pm.
On Wednesday 17 August we’ll have the first day of school for K4 through the 8th grade.
On Thursday 18 August we’ll have a meeting for all school parents at 6.30 pm.
On the weekend of 20 and 21 August we’ll have a food drive for the Harvest Home Food Bank. Please bring food with you to any Mass that weekend and drop the food at the designated truck in the parking lot to the west of the church.
That same weekend is registration for Religious Education classes for all children of the parish who are between first and eighth grade and who are not in our parish school or a Catholic home school.
On Friday 26 August and Saturday 27 August we’ll host the conference on “The Prophet and the Messiah: Catholicism and the Challenge of Islam” sponsored by the Center for Evangelical Catholicism.
On Tuesday 6 September and Wednesday 7 September we’ll have the return of the Program of Catholic Studies.
On Wednesday 7 September at 6.30 pm we’ll have the return of Religious Education. Also beginning that day at 6.30 pm is our course called “An Introduction to Catholicism,” which is designed for anyone who is interested in learning more about Catholic Christianity, in becoming a Catholic, or who is returning to the Church after some time away.
I hope everyone had a great break, but it’s time to get moving again. Let’s go!
