Men’s Ministry

Men’s Ministry

Pillars of Christ is a men’s ministry of St. Mary’s Church.

To avoid taking men away from their families any more than they already are, we meet early in the morning before the workday begins.

We meet every Friday at St. Mary’s

6.15 – 6.30 A.M. Morning Prayer in the Church (Liturgy of the Hours)

6.40 – 6.55 A.M. Coffee & Short Talk in Sacred Heart Hall

7:00 A.M. Optional Mass or Small Group Gathering (Small groups end about 7.45. On First Fridays, we attend 7.00 Mass as a group and leave afterwards from there.)

About Our Ministry

Our purpose is to reclaim authentic Christian manhood in the face of a culture where true masculinity is under constant attack. As men, we are called by the Church to reject passivity, accept responsibility, lead courageously and invest in eternity. We are called to be pillars of strength in our homes, the Church, workplace and community.

The purpose of the Pillars of Christ is expressed in Colossians 1:28 “That we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”

What does it mean to be “perfect in Christ Jesus” as a man?
To be perfect in Christ means that we are happy in being a man. We provide for our families, fight for righteousness sake, have close male friends that encourage us, and are faithful to our wives (or keeping ourselves sexually pure before marriage). The Pillars of Christ are men of faith meeting with other men of faith to help each other grow as true men of Jesus Christ.

In Proverbs 27:17 we are told, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Strong men build up other strong men.
